Our company used Mongolian Train Tickets to book a train to Beijing the morning after we finished a training in Ulaan Baatar. They were brilliant. Firstly they were able to buy and send us scans of the tickets faster than any other company. This was really important so that we could secure our China Visas. I contacted Davaajav in January 2018 and wanted to buy a train ticket from Ulaanbaatar to Moscow in June 2018. So, he reserved my seat after I gave the exact date and he told me I only need to pay once I arrived in Mongolia. We contacted each other through email. He met me in the hostel where I stayed and I paid him in USD.
I brought a bicycle while traveling. Davaajav was so nice and kind. He helped me to handle my bicycle matter in the terminal. We met again in the terminal two days before my train depart. At that time, we were so disappointed with the management because they made us so complicated. But, Davaajav still wants to help me.
So, if someone wants to bring bicycle for TransMongolia. Davaajav knew the process. Please bring your extra money because my experience before staff in the office would ask you for some money to do your documents. If they (staff in the terminal office) didn’t ask you for some money, so you’re lucky.
For bicycle and my panniers, I was charged around $41 for 30kg. I paid in Mongolian Tugrik.
Once you arrived in the Mongolia-Russia border, you don’t need to go out from the train. You just stay on the train. The officers will come to you and asks you the documents (passport, train ticket, bicycle documents). After that, maybe the officer will ask you some questions about your purpose to go to Russia.

Dealing with Mongolian train tickets was perfect from start to finish. Everything is secure as no money is asked for until you physically have the tickets in hand. Ganba met me personally with my tickets at my accommodation in Ulaanbataar and was probably the nicest person I met throughout my trip in Asia, he even wrote notes translating everything for me from the ticket. All in all I saved a lot of stress, had the tickets hand delivered and also saved so much money compared with going through similar Russian agencies.
